PRIMITIVE NOSEGAY
Designed by Jane Olson
Hooked by Norma Flodman
Rugger's Roundtable Issue September 1994

Primitive Nosegay was inspired by some quilted applique patterns. I adopted this into a square rug. Most of the flowers are repeated throughout the design. The flowers are primitive, and can be worked in solid colors and outlined, or can be shaded with swatches or dip-dyed material.

Working a primitive rug pattern involves searching through your bag of treasures (scraps) for a color used long ago in one of your favorite rugs.
